Notes

The OAE is a freelance, period instrument orchestra specialising in, but not exclusively limited to, repertoire from the ‘Age of Enlightenment’ from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic tradition. It is a self-governing orchestra and all members are expected to take an active part in the governance and promotion of the orchestra. The OAE has principal positions across the orchestra, with some positions shared, which can allow principal players to specialise in but not necessarily confine themselves to different areas of repertoire. Co-principal players are expected to divide the scheduled work between them, so that the majority of projects are covered.

The 2017/18 Season sees the OAE working alongside their Principal Artists, continue their residency at London’s Southbank Centre and Glyndebourne Festival Opera as well as touring nationally and internationally. Off the concert platform, the OAE has a vibrant Education Programme and its administrative headquarters are based at Kings Place, one of Europe’s leading cultural landmarks.
